A global expert in movement and mental health, Professor Simon Rosenbaum is working to make the benefits of physical activity accessible to everyone.

Simon is a Professor of Psychiatry and Mental Health at UNSW Sydney and the co-lead of the NExuS research group (Nutrition, Exercise, and Social Equity). He has held positions as the national director of Exercise and Sports Science Australia, the president of the Australasian Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and the inaugural co-chair of the Olympic Refuge Foundation’s Think Tank on sport and humanitarian settings. Simon has also previously worked for the United Nations, providing community-based support within refugee camps.

Having authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications, Simon brings an authoritative understanding of how physical activity can benefit mental health. He enjoys sharing this science and empowering his audiences with practical strategies that can significantly enhance their wellbeing.

Simon continues to shape non-pharmacological approaches to mental health internationally and has delivered workshops in more than 25 countries. His talks provide insights on how exercise programs can bridge barriers and be effectively implemented within the most challenging settings.  Locally, Simon is the founder of Addi Moves, a free, trauma-informed exercise facility for individuals experiencing trauma and social exclusion, located in Marrickville, Sydney.
